Camp Live Oak is Back for 2021 with New COVID-19 Safety Protocols in Place

You and your family know and love Camp Live Oak for its caring staff, abundance of activities, beautiful location, and most of all as a great place for your children and teens to make friends for a lifetime in a safe and healthy environment. Here in South Florida, Camp Live Oak has been a leader in camping for more than 30 years, and the Camp goal is to continue as a leader in the industry. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, new protocols have been put in place to reassure parents of the health and safety of campers and staff, as well as their families. Let’s explore the changes at Camp Live Oak put in place to protect everyone and minimize the risk of COVID-19 transmission.

Have a Safe and Wonderful Time

While Camp Live Oak will look a little different, the mission remains the same – “providing a nurturing setting that will enhance a child’s self-worth, confidence, and a profound appreciation of nature.” With that in mind, we, the staff at Camp Live Oak are going all out to ensure campers have an exceptional experience and parents feel confident the needed safety measure are in place. The health and safety of Camp Live Oak campers has always been a top priority. So, as we prepare for the upcoming camp sessions, Camp Live Oka is working alongside the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention), the Florida Health Department, the ACA (American Camp Association) as well as state and local authorities to make sure all safety recommendations and protocols are met. Plus, when any new information comes to light, Camp Live Oak makes the adjustments to adhere to safety regulations.

Here are some of the new safety measure in place at Camp Live Oak:

Maximum group size of 20 campers and 85 campers per week
More handwashing and sanitizing stations, handsfree handwashing stations, and reminders of proper handwashing protocols
Healthcare personnel on site performing health checks and temperature checks as well as appropriate handling of health situations
Increased sanitation protocols including sanitization and disinfection of materials and recreation services after each use
No field trips with the exception of the Teen Eco program

The Details

Camp Live Oak will be operating at the Fort Lauderdale location including regular day camp and fishing camp, as well as the Dania program for Salty Anglers only. At both locations, camp hours are 9:00 am to 3:30 pm with AM care from 8:00 to 9:00 am. PM care will be offered at Fort Lauderdale ONLY from 3:30 to 5:30 pm.

The Programs

Currently, programs at Camp Live Oak have a capacity limited to 20 campers per group.

These are the program offerings currently available:

Teen Eco Program – This is the FULL version of the Teen Program. Dania Teen Eco is cancelled for 2021.
Lil Sprouts – Lil Sprouts will be available in June and July ONLY at Birch State Park.
Salty Angler Fishing Camp – Salty Angler Fishing Camp will be held at Birch State Park and Mizell-Johnson June 14 to July 30.
Starlight Sleepover– Starlight Sleepover is cancelled for 2021.

Camp Live Oak Scholarships

Applications for Camp Live Oak scholarships are available on March 1st. Camp Live Oak is now a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, which means we rely on donations, gifts, and sponsors to supplement camp tuition. We are thankful for the support your family and families like yours and as a result we have set aside a portion of funds received for children of first responders, essential workers, and other families financially impacted by the pandemic.
