This park is an oasis of tropical hammocks and four distinct natural environments nestled between the Atlantic Ocean and the Intracoastal Waterway. The park features a mile-long freshwater lagoon for canoeing and access to the Intracoastal waterway for fishing. Campers explore and hike along shady trails and learn about local plants and wildlife in this beautiful natural setting. Campers also visit the Ft. Lauderdale beach for swimming, surfing and paddle boarding via the pedestrian tunnel under A1A. The park’s air conditioned cabins are also used during the Starlight Sleepover.
Playground: Just across from the natural playground of the grand banyan tree is a children’s playground, equipped with a shaded climbing structure, swings and slides…just what the campers need to get their energy out!
Banyan Tree: The flora and fauna found at Hugh Taylor Birch State Park is diverse and lush. One of the highlights of this location is the grand old Banyan tree right in the middle of our base camp/pavilion area. This natural playground provides, not only a beautiful backdrop and home for wildlife, but also a shady spot to hide, play and explore.
Play Field: When it is time for activities and games, the large, open grassy field is where they will be stretching their legs and running fast and free.
